Can I Convert? #2

Today I took of the seatpost and the saddle and figured I'd put them up for sale on ebay since they are in great shape and are probably the best thing off of the bike.  So I'm in our bedroom and my wife says, "what are you doing? Maybe I should try that seat."  The seat and post are crazy heavy and it wouldn't make climbing easier on anyone, but it was enough for me to hold off on posting it for sale.  The other thing about this seatpost is that it's a 26.2mm diameter which isn't used much anymore so a couple of the options that I had wanted have gone out the door and I have to find something else.  I was hoping for something a bit aero and colorful but yeah 26.2 has created more digging for me to do.

I also started taking apart the stem/headset/handlebar contraption of the bike because I'm interested in the dimensions that I will find there as well.  I didn't spend much time on it this morning and I imagine it will be a lengthy process.  I'm ok with that as long as I keep at it - kind of like this blogging thing.

Anyone out there make custom seatposts at a decent price?  That would be pretty sweet? Maybe I could even learn how to work with carbon. There's an idea.

On another note, I was talking about losing weight today with my family and a family friend and my kids were around when I said, "I have two demons named Bread and Ice Cream."  My kids busted up laughing and later one of them brought me this picture:

Greetings! Ever since our abode and community went up in flames about a year ago I've been dreaming about bikes.  Most cyclist may be aware of the n+1 equation of how many bikes one person should own.  Well I went from having a mountain bike, road bike, cyclocross/commuter bike, and access to my brothers TT bike whenever I liked to having 0 two wheeled fun machines.  After moving in with my parents and really feeling the need to get out and burn off some stress, I was quick to look for something to get me spinning.  One of my Mom's friends stepped up and offered me her husband's old bike and who am I to turn down something to use?  I used it awhile until I found a great deal on a very nice mountain bike that I use everyday now.  BUT, I still have a desire to get back to having multiply bikes for multiple disciplines and because I have the Ol' Crossroads (as the guys at the local bike shop called it), I would like to turn it into something that I might use ...

Tidbit about Tidbit - What does it mean and where does it come from? Oh yes, etymology of tidbit!

Hello. If you are reading this blog for the first time, then I welcome you. If it is not your first time, then I pull you in for a hearty hug because I'm glad that you are here again. If you did not know, my name is not LeslyAnne. So in the first post I wrote the word tidbit, and it made me wonder if I was spelling it correctly and where in the world it came from (hence today's post). I take my information from the Optimal Elephant Database or what is more commonly known as the almighty OED (Oxford English Dictionary - which I really don't know what you have to do to use it if you're not subscribed through academia. Probably just have to pay money, but who cares for doing that.). On with the show. Pictures are nice - usually.
