How do you find peace of mind?
So, I usually try to steer clear of having religious conversations out of the blue. If someone else happens to bring it up, I'm willing to give my two cents usually. Today I'm going to kind of try to steer clear and keep the topic more general because there is something to be said for taking a moment for yourself and just sitting in silence and reflecting, or thinking, or trying to clear your mind. There's something healing about it. I think it's done in many different ways by many different people. Some people call it prayer, some meditation, some might even call it brain storming (even though the stormy part, I think, would need to be toned down to a gentle breeze - "brain gentle breezing" - I like that).
I've read several articles in the past about healing nature of meditation and a quick search right now brought up one study done that showed that a combination of self-hypnosis and meditation helped postmenopausal women with osteoporosis (a medical condition in which the bones become brittle and fragile from loss of tissue) improve their life. I think this holds true in general. Taking a moment to relax helps to focus.
I feel like many events or activities that people enjoy doing actually act as meditation. Things like going for an evening (or morning, or anytime) walk (maybe along the beach or a stream), fishing, and drawing. I personally have some good thinking and relaxing sessions when I'm cruising along on my bike (not when I'm pushing hard or trying to get top 10 on a strava segment).
The point is, I think we all need to find what helps us take pause, what helps us meditate in one way or another. I believe that this would improve our own life and the life of those who have to deal with us. In what ways do you find peace of mind? What is it that you do to meditate?
My name is not LeslyAnne. Have a great time in your meditation!
