"Is there rice in this soup?"
We were heating up leftovers from the weekend. Some had minestrone, some had tamale soup, some had turkey tacos, biscuits, and whatever else we could muster up. In a moment of silence my youngest son pipes up and asks "is there rice in this soup?" I don't know exactly what it was but something in his intonation made it sound like the title of a book like "if you give a mouse a cookie" or something of that nature. I said that it sounds like a book by Artour and he liked that and played off of it saying yes the title is "Is there rice in this soup? And the first page is blank the second page blank another blank page and another blank page" and in the meantime my older son was coming up with his own version where Artour is actually allergic to rice at which point Artour actually says "I'm not allergic to rice!" It got a bit loud in the kitchen but it was a fun little moment over food and it did sound a bit like a children's book. He did eventually put rice in his minestrone and was quite happy with it.
If you're trying to lose weight, I don't recommend popcorn with butter. We wanted to watch a movie this evening so I popped some popcorn and we melted butter and after my wife had weighed and figured calories a rather small bowl was about 600 calories. We ended up splitting it so she could stay just under her caloric goal for the day. I don't really have a goal for calories in the day but I try to eat small portions and it has been working. I've lost 3 pounds in about a week and a half. We do official weigh-ins on Saturday morning and as long as I get down to 196.2 by then I'll have met my goal for the week, which is 1 pound a week. I really hope I'm under 196 but we'll see. It feels like I've tried eating different sorts of diets over time, but really if I stay away from ice-cream and bread and am active, it seems I lose weight. How many diets have you tried? What worked for you? What are your food demons (mine being ice-cream and bread). My name's not LeslyAnne. Good day or night to you.
